Welcome to the McNairy County Extension Service!
Established by the Smith-Lever Act of 1914, University of Tennessee Extension is the off-campus educational unit of the The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. Located in the Selmer Industrial Park, the Extension Service offers educational programs and research-based information to the citizens of McNairy County. Extension programs are available in adult agriculture, family and consumer sciences, and 4-H youth development.
Our mission is the same today as almost 100 years ago - to release research generated information to the public in order to improve the quality of life for local citizens. Occupations, lifestyles, and technology have changed, but the need for information has not. If anything, that need is greater today than ever. The McNairy County Agricultural Extension Service is a unique partnership between McNairy County Government, The University of Tennessee, Tennessee State University and the United States Department of Agriculture.
